Assignment #1: Buildings & More

September 9, 2009

I set out through Stanford campus looking to capture the signature sounds of buildings – specifically the sounds we generate when we interact with them.  I kept an open mind along the way and ended up capturing other sounds unique to our campus.  Using the Sony PCM-D50 I captured doors creaking and shutting, doorhandles clicking, windows sliding, mail slots, drinking fountains, trashcans, and an assortment of other more ratified sounds including a frisbee disc striking a lamppost and paper flyers being ripped down from a bulletin board.

Nice clean recordings that sound like what they are. That’s not always so easy to do.
