Field trip to San Francisco

September 9, 2009

Tomorrow, Thursday 10th, we will go to San Francisco on a field trip, to record interesting sounds.

We will start at the Box Shop, http://boxshopsf.org/, a studio workspace for artist. As it says on their website:

“Artists work out of 20’x 8′ shipping containers and share access to a 5000-ft.² shop and a 20,000-ft.² yard. The warehouse includes a fully functioning metal shop mig, tig and gas welders, a wide range of metal shaping equipment: benders, rollers, English wheel, planishing hammers, a break, drill presses and more. Two of the BoxShop’s latest additions are a shared electronics studio and a machine shop with a mill, a lathe and associated tooling.”

then we will go to the Musée Mécanique,  http://www.museemecaniquesf.com/,

“..one of the world’s largest (over 200) privately owned collection of coin-operated mechanical musical instruments and antique arcade machines in their original working condition.”

it will be fun!!!
